Confirm Your Pregnancy First
If you think you might be pregnant, then confirming your pregnancy before making a decision is important. A positive pregnancy test alone doesn’t give enough information about how your pregnancy is developing.
A limited ultrasound at our center can tell you how far along your pregnancy is, whether the pregnancy is viable, and whether the pregnancy is located inside the uterus.
These details can affect your health and options. For example, the abortion pill is only approved through ten weeks gestation by the FDA.
Learning About Parenting
Parenting can feel out of reach if you’re still in school or concerned about your finances; however, support is available for new parents. At Carolina Pregnancy Center, we offer a variety of educational programs designed to support you through pregnancy, parenting, and beyond.
We provide free prenatal classes, parenting classes which include information about newborn care and infant development as well as life skills workshops. We also have a dad-to-dad program where new dads are paired with an experienced fatherhood mentor.
Considering Adoption
If you know you don’t feel ready to parent but also don’t want to end your pregnancy, then adoption is another option to consider.
There are three types of adoption plans to explore depending on how much contact you would like to have with your child. These include:
- Open adoption – This involves ongoing communication between you and the adoptive family. Depending on the agreement, this may include visits, phone calls, letters, or other forms of contact.
- Semi-open adoption – Communication is facilitated through a third party, and letters or photos may be exchanged without sharing personal information.
- Closed adoption – All identifying information is kept secret, and the court seals the records.
