Maybe one of your first thoughts about parenting is, “Absolutely not! I can’t afford to be a parent!” Thinking they don’t have help is one of the main reasons many women choose not to parent. However, there is more support, resources, and assistance available now than ever before for women who choose to parent independently.
Explaining Parenting
No matter what your circumstances, parenting is challenging and rewarding all at the same time. As a parent, you have the joy of watching your children grow and learn, but you also have the responsibility to care for and raise them. In order to know if parenting is right for you, ask yourself some of the following questions:
- Do I have support from my partner or parents?
- How will parenting impact my job or education?
- Can I financially support a child?
- What resources are available to help me raise my child?
Sometimes having a few heart-to-heart conversations with those who matter most in your life will give you the assurance you need to choose parenting. We’re available too. We offer a lot of the resources and referrals you will need.
Parenting Resources
Unfortunately, babies do not come with instruction manuals. Because every baby and parenting situation is different, we want to help you have as much information as possible before your baby arrives.
Our Earn While You Learn (EWYL) Program
Carolina Pregnancy Center offers two different parent education tracks. The first is Earn While You Learn (EWYL), which is open to any client that is either pregnant or parenting a baby or toddler. The Earn While You Learn program enables you to earn items you need for your baby while learning the parenting skills you desire.
Physical Needs Appointment
Because we also understand that sometimes circumstances are out of your control, we offer assistance with emergency formula and diapers, one time per child. We also offer maternity clothes and baby clothes for newborn-4T sizes in our loan closet.
Our client advocates would be happy to help you with the items you need for your pregnancy and your baby. Please call today to schedule a physical needs appointment.
Court-Ordered Parenting Program
The second parenting education track we offer is our Court Ordered Parenting Program. This program is open to clients that have been court ordered or referred by DSS to complete parenting classes. Please call our center today to enroll in the parenting program that best fits your needs.
